BMW GS Trophy Day 7

by James Pratt
November 20th, 2010

The competition is winding down. Today the riders made it back to Jan du Toit’s farm in South Africa. After a week and nearly 2,000 km of mostly off-road riding, the bikes and competitors looked like they had been ridden hard. Two special competitions today – one test was how fast you can push a F800GS through a long tunnel, the other test was a slow ride contest. A British journalist had a spectacular crash at high speed in a sand wash, but luckily was not seriously hurt. His bike suffered a much worse fate and he ended up riding double the final 40 km to the ranch.

Soon the teams will be heading home with stories to tell. We can’t wait to provide a detailed story in a future issue of Adventure Rider Magazine!
